About me

Typically, when you go to view an about page on any given therapist’s website you are greeted with detailed information about the individual’s education and degrees and hopefully a photo or two to clue you in on who you are getting to know in the first place. So here you go, I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in education from Clemson University. I then went on to achieve my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I am certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina.

While that information is fine and dandy, I also want to share a little bit about my journey to actually getting here.

My Journey

I started my academic career desiring to be a physician. I loved medicine, the idea of helping people, and of course the income is not too shabby. However, after two and a half years of working through my academic program I came to a standstill. My courses were really hard. I could not wrap my mind around the concepts of a core class that would determine if I could move on towards graduation. I felt like I was failing and like the whole picture of what my life was supposed to be was vaulted into an uncomfortable unknown. Do you know that feeling when the rug seems to get ripped right out from under your feet? It hurts. And sometimes your thoughts can really start to mess with you taking down a path you truly do not want to travel.

This one catalyst launched me on a several years journey of discovering who I was and what kind of life I really wanted. Apart from academics I was also navigating challenging relationships (like everyone, we are human after all), a demanding job, and big questions about faith and what life even means.

Now here I am many years later, armed with tools that I would love to share with you. Life is messy and unpredictable. Sometimes we think we are headed in one direction, but we are catapulted another. It is easy to become anxious, depressed, and uncomfortable when your life seems to operate in the unknown. It hurts. It’s confusing. It’s frustrating. I want you to know that you are not alone. I’m here to support you in any way that I can and to be a source of hope as you find your way.
